Expert Talk on Government Grants to Boost Institutional Financial Inclusivity

The Department of Biotechnology at Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Landran, commemorated World Heart Day on 29th September 2025 with a vibrant series of events dedicated to promoting heart health, preventive care, and community well-being.
The day began with a free health check-up camp organized in collaboration with Livasa Hospital, Mohali, offering faculty, students, and staff vital screenings and consultations. Carrying forward the message of fitness, students and faculty joined hands for a spirited “Walk for a Stronger Heart” rally and a symbolic balloon release, collectively pledging to adopt healthier lifestyle practices.
The event was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony. Prof. (Dr.) Palki Sahib Kaur, Director Principal, CCT, delivered the inaugural address, setting the tone for the day. The audience was inspired by an insightful session by Dr. Ishant Singla, Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon, Livasa Hospital on “Nurturing a Healthy Heart,” followed by an engaging talk on “Role of Nutrition in a Healthy Heart” by Dr. Shivani, Nutritionist at Dr. Shivani’s Homoeo and Diet Clinic, Mohali.
The campus buzzed with creativity as students participated in poster-making competition and a quiz contest on heart health, followed by a lively no-fire cooking competition showcasing easy-to-make, nutritious recipes. The celebration wrapped up with a high-energy fitness walk, a thought-provoking skit on lifestyle awareness, and and a valedictory ceremony honoring the winners. Fit and Fab (Male) title was won by Prikshit Rana and Fit and Fab (Female) was won by Johnsy. In Quiz contest, third prize was won by Rachita and Rajni, second prize was won by Priyanshu and Garvit, first prize was won by Jiya and Lovina. In Poster Making, third prize was won by Harsimran Kaur, second prize by Palak Gupta, first prize was won by Palakpreet Kaur. In No Fire Cooking, Isha Atwal won third prize and second and first prize were won by Neha and Guriya Sharma respectively.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, HoD, Biotechnology. The celebration not only spread awareness but also inspired participants to make heart-healthy choices and champion the cause of wellness within the community.
