On 24th September 2025, B.Sc. Biotechnology (Semester I) students accompanied by faculty members visited the Verka Dairy Plant, Industrial Area Phase 1, Chandigarh. The visit provided students with an enriching exposure to modern dairy and sweet manufacturing processes, giving students a deeper understanding of how traditional dairy practices are seamlessly blended with cutting-edge technology to deliver products of the highest quality.

The students observed the entire dairy production process, from milk processing to the making of Kulfi, ice-cream, and traditional sweets, all carried out with precision and hygiene. They also got insights into modern packaging and preservation techniques, highlighting the plant’s focus on quality and efficiency.

The tour highlighted Verka’s advanced technologies, including Tetra Pak aseptic packaging and Ultra-High Temperature processing ensuring freshness, quality, and longer shelf life of products. Students also observed refrigeration and boiler systems, gaining insights into energy efficiency and large-scale production management. The visit concluded with the water treatment plant, reflecting the company’s commitment to hygiene, sustainability, and environmental responsibility. Overall, the industrial tour provided a comprehensive learning experience, showcasing workflow management, technological integration, and rigorous quality control at one of Punjab’s most trusted dairy brands. It was an educational and inspiring experience, reflecting CGC’s commitment to providing students with hands-on learning opportunities that bridge classroom knowledge and real-world industry practices.
