Smart India Hackathon is an innovative and out-of-the-box thought-provoking initiative by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), under the aegis of Government of India, which provides a distinct platform particularly intended to promote technical thinking and advanced problem-solving.
To support this nation-building event, various eminent institutions and organizations come forward to collectively work on it giving an opportunity to the young talent to contribute towards building a better India. The list of organizers of this event includes MHRD, Inter-Institutional Inclusive Innovations Center (i4c), MyGov, Persistent Systems, and Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini that keep pace with the PM Modi’s ideology of transforming the nation by employing novel techniques.
It is one of the biggest podiums of the country which espouse entrepreneurship and innovation, especially among engineering students. Smart India Hackathon has now become an annual technology-driven event which in a way promotes PM Modi’s vision of Digital India.
The very first edition of the Smart India Hackathon was held in the year 2017 and ever since the event has been a great success among the inquisitive and intuitive young minds. There are two editions to the Smart India Hackathon: Software Edition and Hardware Edition.
The theme of the Smart India Hackathon 2020 is “No problem is too big... No idea is too small”. The problem categories that are encompassed under the events of this year include:
Smart India Hackathon will be held from the 1st of August to the 3rd of August (three consecutive days) where various events are carried out at different Nodal Centers. Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran has been chosen as the nodal center from the state of Punjab for the fourth consecutive year. This year CGC Landran would be hosting 23 teams comprising of 138 participants in total who would be representing solutions for 5 problem statements given by HealthRx (Bajaj Finserv Health Ltd.), Cognizant Technology Solutions India Pvt. Ltd and Department of Atomic Energy, and would be competing against other students from across the country in a 36-hour software product development competition.
The grand finale would commence with the inauguration ceremony to be conducted centrally from New Delhi on August 1, 2020, and the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be interacting with the CGC, Landran students on the same day i.e. August 1 at 4:30 pm.
