ACING ‘CODING SKILLS’ TO GAIN PRACTICAL MASTERY

‘13 Bugs Why’ CODING CONTEST BY CODEBOOM CLUB @ CGC With an aim to sharpen Coding Skills of students from #Computer Science & Engineering stream, the CODEBOOM club of CSE department, CGC Landran organized ‘13 Bugs Why’ coding contest. In this contest, students’ coding skills were put to test through brain-storming programming questions to be solved by the participants in half an hour. The student participants were evaluated on the basis of the efficiency of code and the time taken by them to complete the test. The best performers were duly awarded while rest were encouraged to keep honing their skills to emerge victorious during placement drives.

Orientaion Programme B.Ed Session 2018-20

Chandigarh College of Education accorded a warm welcome to B.Edfreshers on August 6,2018.Dr.Jagtar Singh Khattra, Dir. Academics, CGC, Er. AC Sharma,Sir.Admin&HR ,CGC accompanied by the principal Dr.Sneh Bansal performed the inaugural honour swith the lamp lighting ceremony.Dr.Jagtar Singh Khattra congratulated and inspired the student sand their parents in his welcome address. He exhorted the B.Ed students to go forth and make a difference in the teaching world. He informed the audience about the end eavourstaken by the CGC fraternity to render placements to the B.Edpassouts in the top most schools of the tri city. In his inspiring words, he commended the sincere efforts of B.Edfaculty.ER. AC Sharma urged the students to broaden their vision and possess three D’s in life that is determination, dedication and discipline to attain success in one’s career and to consider present as gift past as lesson and future as motivation . Thereafter Dr. Sneh Bansal held the stage and took the students through a pictorial presentation of the CGC’s legacy, several top grades and awards achieved as part of accreditation by CGC. She also introduced the freshers to the faculty members and apprised them of the B.Ed syllabi. Subsequently Ms.Gagan Bhullar, Dean Student Welfare acquainted the students with the co-curricular and extra curricular activities of the college . The event infused with much curiosity and excitement thus came to an end with refreshment being served to the visiting students and their parents .

Canadian Delegation @ CGC Landran Sue Naumann, Instructor, Langara College, Canada went for a spin around the INNOVATION CENTRE in CGC Landran to get clued up on how Research and Innovation activities are undertaken in the campus. The management of CGC Landran reposes immense faith in carrying forward everyone as a family that has been contributing to the glorious legacy of the institution in a collective manner for years. The meeting between the management and faculty turned out to be extremely healthy and constructive aiming at elevating the stature of CGC to lofty heights. Induction Program 2018 for freshers’ batch has finally begun at CGC Landran. Session began with auspicious lamp lighting followed by detailed presentation depicting CGC’s proud legacy. During the session, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC, Landran thanked the parents and students alike for showing trust in the institution while Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC, Landran urged students to follow disciplinary code, refrain from usage of drugs and drive safely. Congrats! CGCians scores TRIPLE CENTURY; capping 308 merit positions at IKGPTU level {MEDALS TALLY: GOLD: 12; SILVER 13; BRONZE 24}

IKG PTU results for the November 2017 session have brought immense laurels to the institution as over 300+ students from CGC Landran have bagged IKG PTU Merit Positions.CGCians have attained 60 merit positions in B.Tech, 95 in BBA, MBA, B.Com (Professional), BCA and MCA combined, 92 in B.Sc HMCT, ATHM and BHMCT, 29 in B. Pharma & M. Pharma and 32 in B.Sc. (Biotech) and M.Sc. (Biotech). Of these, there are 12 first positions, 13 second positions, 24 third positions and 259 merit positions in total from across 4thto 10th spots. Students from Engineering, MBA, Pharmacy and Hotel Management are among the toppers. Kudos to all the students and faculty alike for their untiring efforts in keeping alive the tradition of academic excellence by once again ruling the charts in the IKG PTU merit list.

AICTE sponsored FDP for ‘Student Induction Program’ kicks off at CGC Landran

With an aim to sensitize Faculty about needs and aspirations of the present youth, AICTE has organized 3-Day Faculty Development Program from 29th June to 1st July’18 at CGCLandran. Over 150 faculty members from various educational institutions across Punjab are the participants in this program. They will be enlightened on technical as well as humane aspects of teaching under specific topics by the expert speakers before these teachers begin conducting ‘Induction Programs’ for new students in their respective institutions. Dignitaries present during the occasion were Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran, Dr. R.K. Soni, Director & Regional Offices, NWRO-AICTE, Chandigarh, Prof. Raminder Singh Uppal, Associate Professor, BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib including other management officials.

FDP inaugurated at CGC Landran

A two-week long Faculty Development Programme (FDP) commenced today at Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran. The theme of this year’s FDP is “Strengthening Quality Education through Experiential Learning Leading to Student Employability.” The first day of the FDP was addressed by Hon’ble President CGC Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal,Dr. P. N. Hrisheekesha – Campus Director, CGC Landran and other esteemed members of CGC’s top management. Dr. Krishan Mohan IAS (Retd.), Ex Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Haryana, was the keynote speaker. Dr. Krishan Mohan spoke on the ‘Significance of Motivation and Leadership for faculty in Higher Education.’ Apart from enabling new faculty members to hone their professional capabilities the FDP seeks to help them understand their responsibilities as educator-cum facilitators, researchers, and administrators. ​

CGC Landran among top 50 in Times Private Engineering Institute Rankings 2018

Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran has featured among the top 50 institutions in Times Top 100 Private Engineering Institute rankings 2018. Chandigarh Engineering College, CGC Landran is also among the top ten private engineering colleges in the northern region and the only one in Punjab, basis the same ranking. CGC Landran in country’s top ten institutions for most patents filed in a single year 108 total patents filed till date with 30 patents in a single year

Adding yet another feather in its cap, Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran has featured in the list of top ten institutions from across India, in terms of filing patents, in the Annual Report published by the office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, Trademarks and Geographical Indicators, Government of India. Ranked seventh, CGC Landran has taken the lead over premier private and public institutions like NITs, filing 30 patents in a single year. Till date, the institution has filed upto 100-plus, patents with more in the pipeline. As per government data, a total of 45,444 patent applications were filed this year indicating a 1.2 per cent increase over the previous year. Punjab and Chandigarh figured in the top filing states and Union Territories which also included Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Haryana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh Rajasthan Jharkhand Orissa Assam Uttarakhand Bihar and Chhattisgarh. This milestone, underscores the institution’s unrelenting efforts at nurturing and promoting the culture of innovation and research among its students and faculty. These patents were applied for by CGC’s Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department (14 filed), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department (10 filed), Mechanical Engineering (ME) (one filed) department and Biotechnology department (05 filed). Some of these unique innovations developed by CGC’s inventors include, a Biometric Ticketing System, an Air Purifier based on catalytic convertor, A CanSat (simulation of a real satellite) containing a container and glider capable of measuring atmospheric conditions, Sensorless Motion detector, GSM Enables Smart hat for the visually impaired, Drive chain cleaning and lubrication device, A water heating device working on biogas produced from household waste, Mobile Wireless Sensor network design for minimization of consumption of energy and fault, to name a few. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran congratulated the faculty and students on this achievement. They said, “In this highly competitive world, research and innovation are the need of the hour. The onus is upon us to bring up our students as not just industry professionals but effective business leaders as well. CGC has been taking many initiatives in this direction. This includes setting up an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, which promotes innovation and entrepreneurship encouraging faculty and students to develop and improve new and existing technologies.”

CGC Landran gets gold ranking in AICTE-CII survey

The ‘AICTE-CII survey of Industry Linked Technical Institutes 2017’ has given a gold rating to Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran. The institution was evaluated on parameters including Placements, Faculty, Curriculum, Infrastructure, Services/Project & Skill development and Governance. CGC Landran was among the 700+ institutes that passed through both the short survey and full survey evaluation stages out of the 9500+ technical institutions from across the country, which participated in the survey. Experts from industry and academia were a part of the survey process which also included visits to institutes for on-site assessment of industry linkages of institutes. This was the sixth edition of the AICTE-CII survey. The objective of the two part survey was to utilize it as a tool to measure the depth and extent of collaborations between technical institutions in the country and industry, thereby, providing them a chance to reinforce their industry linkages and leverage them to bridge the gap between industry and academia, benefiting the students and faculty in the long run. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran welcomed this joint initiative by AICTE and CII to strengthen industry-academia interface. They further added that the ranking was testament of CGC’s promise of providing its students & faculty with the best of industry exposure by way of regular events and internships as also introducing new industry relevant courses in the curriculum. They reiterated their commitment to continue making efforts in this direction and provide CGCians an apt platform to interact with and learn from experts helping them become competent, industry-ready professionals, going forward.

CGC Landran becomes Zonal Centre to bring AI revolution in Technical Education Sector

Matching up pace with changing futuristic technologies, CGC Landran is now all set to update its faculty and students with new concepts like Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence. To enhance the skills and employability of students, AICTE has developed a Model Curriculum which has components of AI and Deep Learning. This giant project titled, ‘Making Deep Learning and AI skills mainstream in India to fulfill trilateral needs of Entrepreneurship, Industry-Academia partnership and application inspired Engineering Research’ sanctioned by Royal Academy of Engineering, UK will be initiated through 30 Zonal Partners spread across the country and CGC Landran is one of them.

International Team CGC Landran saw the arrival of (Federation of Asian Businesses) FAB delegation from UK including Academicians, Entrepreneurs, Officials from WIBN (Women in Business Network) and British High Commission. The visiting delegates along with CGC Team explored collaborative opportunities in the field of Academics, Research & Innovation, Technology driven start-ups, Women Entrepreneurship etc. The visit aimed at facilitating connections between Education and Business sectors across the UK Northern Powerhouse and the most progressive states in India. National Seminar on how to counter mental, physical and emotional stress

Chandigarh College of Education, CGC Landran organized a National Seminar on Mental Health and Human Resilience: Societal Concern. The key note speaker for the event Dr. Pramod Kumar, Senior Consultant Psychiatry, PGIMER, Chandigarh besides other dignitaries implored that students should follow healthy routine and practice cardiac exercises along with breathing exercises and yoga for mind relaxation. He also asked to remain focused on tasks at hand which led to good mental and physical health. Students learnt that Life is not easy, but right art of living certainly makes it easy.

Aimed at providing global education platform at one place, International BusIT Week organized at CGC Landran finally drew to an end on a high note. Bidding warm adieus to their new Indian friends and faculty, 10 international students assisted by one faculty member expressed their hearty gratitude to CGC family on the departure day for providing them with a unique opportunity to have one-on-one interaction with Indian minds and create futuristic apps.
