About the Course

CGC offers two-year full-time degree course approved by Govt. of Punjab and affiliated to Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. Under the college of pharmacy CGC runs M. Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical chemistry, Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology. All these courses include a four semester course work. M.Pharm. in Pharmaceutical chemistry provides students the relevant knowledge of chemistry required in the drug development, spectral technique for drug analysis etc. Students study the Novel drug delivery systems, Design of dosage form and pharmacokinetic study of drug in M.Pharm. (Pharmaceutics). Mechanisms of drug action, Advances in pharmacology, clinical management of diseases are covered in M.Pharm. (Pharmacology). Students undergo one year dissertation work in the second year of their degree on analytical techniques, methodologies for the fulfillment of the degree M.Pharmacy.

Career Prospects

Indian pharmaceutical companies are in the front rank of India's science based industries, especially in complex fields like drug manufacture and technology. Pharmaceutical industry is growing at about 8 to 9% annually and is likely to be worth over Rs 20000 crores in the near future. Job opportunities exist in community pharmacy, industrial pharmacy, production, R&D, marketing, pharmacy education, hospital pharmacy, drug control administration, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate with bachelor's degree in B-Pharmacy with minimum 55% marks in qualifying degree course is eligible.

Admission Procedure

Admissions to 33% of the total seats are made directly by the college on the basis of merit of the qualifying exam. Online registration can be done on our website www.cgc.edu.in.
