About the Course

CGC offers two-year full-time degree approved by Govt, of Punjab and affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala. The M.Sc. programme in pharmaceutical chemistry comprises four semesters of course work. The first two semesters provide students the relevant knowledge of chemistry required in the drug development, in drug delivery and in study of mechanism of drug action. Application of analytical techniques and research methodology is covered in the second year of the course.

Career Prospects

Indian pharmaceutical companies are in the front rank of India's science based industries, especially in complex fields like drug manufacture and technology. Pharmaceutical industry is growing at about 8 to 9% annually and is likely to be worth over Rs 20000 crores in the near future. Job opportunities exist in community pharmacy, industrial pharmacy, production, R&D, marketing, pharmacy education, hospital pharmacy, drug control administration, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate with bachelor's degree in any branch of science/ B.Sc (Non¬medical or Medical) / B-Pharmacy / Biotechnology / Medicine (MBBS) with minimum 50 % marks in qualifying degree course is eligible.

Admission Procedure
