Head Message
Dear Students,
As I pen this message for you, dear students, I fully understand that you are on the verge of crossing a crucial milestone in your studies since the examination season is on. Hence, it is in the fitness of things that I should be welcoming you to a challenging world where you are posed with several options and opportunities, many courses and institutions. I fully understand that your decisions at this stage will significantly determine the future course of your life and career. Your choice must reflect your passion as well as open multiple job avenues. But how does one go around taking a call on which institution to join, which course to pursue, say a graduation or a post-graduation course in journalism and mass communication? That too, when ‘institutions’, ‘academies’ and ‘departments’ offering such courses are dime a dozen with each crying itself hoarse about how good it is. On top of that, the art of packaging has become so refined these days that it often becomes difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.
As for selecting an institute, my simple tip for you is to check out the essentials: the academics, the curriculum, the infrastructure, the faculty, the leadership, the teaching techniques, and whether what you are going to do in the classroom or labs is in tune with the needs of the industry.
Pitched as the future Centre of Excellence In Media Studies, the Chandigarh Media School constantly tweaks its approach and studies to ensure that our students are prepared to take on the real world of work, be it in a newspaper or a magazine, a TV channel or a corporate house.
Our stress on classroom and practical teaching is finely balanced, and since Chandigarh Media School brings out a full-fledged newspaper "Education Express' that goes to many schools, colleges, decision makers, politicians and bureaucrats etc, the students pass through real-time work experience. Almost all journalism departments are ordinarily satisfied with bringing out a few page in-house campus rag that is never intended to be more than a classroom exercise.
Since we are just coming up with a state-of-the-art Media Lab, it is natural that we will have the best of the cameras, editing facilities, other equipment and studios.
I need not reiterate that upon your decision will depend the course that your life will take from here onwards.
Wishing you the best in your career, and life.
